Fr. Raymond Henry. Lang - 1915 to 2008

Pastor 1953 - 1969

     Reverend Raymond Henry Lang was born on October 15, 1915, in Holdingford, MN.  He was the son of Ferdinand and Eva Lehner Lang.  He attended Holdingford Grade and High School, and St. John's University, Collegeville, MN.  He received his seminary training at St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN.  He was ordained on June 6, 1943, in St. John's Abbey Church, Collegeville, MN by The Most Rev. Peter W. Bartholome.  He celebrated his First Mass on June 8, 1943, at St. Mary's Church, Holdingford, MN.

      Father Lang served in the following assignments: associate pastor, St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Cloud July 1943-July 1947; pastor, St. Rita's Church, Hillman, July 1947-July 1949; St. Anne's Church, Kimball, July 1949-February 1953; St. Peter's Church, St. Cloud, February 1953-June 1969; St. Mary's Melrose and St. Bernard's Church, Ward Spring, June 1969-August 1974; Sacred Heart Church, Staples, August 1974-July 1980; Sacred Heart Church, Glenwood, July 1980-June 1984; Father Lang retired on June 27, 1984.

      Father Lang was Dean of the Melrose Deanery from September 1970 until August 1974.  He was also dean of the Wadena Deanery from August 1974 until 1976.  He served as Diocesan Consultor from 1969 until 1972.

      Father Lang died on Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Sterling Park Health Center, Waite Park, MN.  Vigil Service was on Monday, March 24, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Saint Peter, Saint Cloud, MN.

      The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 11 :30 a.m., at the Church of Saint Peter, Saint Cloud, MN with The Most Reverend John F. Kinney presiding.  Burial was in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. 

      He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joseph, Norbert, James, Peter and sisters, Marguerite Wilde, Viola Campion, Mary Jane Binsfeld, Mary, and Virginia Dubey.
